Description
True Freshwater Tiger Moray Eel. Estimated size at shipping: 6-12" Overview: This unique species is the only moray eel that we know of that truly thrives in freshwater. A recent study shows that adults live their entire lives in freshwater with the exception of breeding migrations. The literature says that they are fairly peaceful for a moray eel and can be kept individually or in groups. We have never kept adults so we can't vouch for this, but that's the word on the street. Setup Considerations: This species is reported to grow to about 3' -4' in aquariums, so they are going to need a large aquarium. Like most eels, they require caves to hide in. They will spend a good deal of their time in the cave with their head sticking out observing their environment. The largest ones we have seen documented grew to just under 5'.
