The Xingu Black Neon Tetra carries the quiet intensity of the Rio Xingu itself: dark, reflective, and alive with contrast. A bold lateral stripe cuts through deep charcoal tones, glowing subtly under soft lighting while flashes of silver and bronze emerge as the school turns in unison. Unlike more delicate neon species, this tetra feels grounded, structured, confident, and best appreciated in aquariums designed with depth and intention. Collected from Brazil and adapted carefully to aquarium life, Moenkhausia heikoi is an excellent choice for aquarists who appreciate subtle strength over exaggerated.
