Marajo Oscar (Astronotus ocellatus) - 2-3" Unsexed. Remarks : The Marajo oscar is a locality of Astronotus ocellatus rarely seen available in the hobby. As their common name denotes, they are found near Marajo Island where the mouth of the Amazon River connects to the Atlantic. With their collection location being so close to the ocean, some suspect they may tolerate mildly brackish conditions, but this has not been confirmed. Oscar collectors covet the Marajo oscar as it is said they show some of the most red coloration seen in wild oscars upon maturity. These oscars are wild caught out of Brazil, so they are going to be much less tolerant of water parameters and pollutants compared to those that are captive bred. The trade off for this is that they will have much healthier genetics comparatively and a known collection point. Oscars have b. Source: Imperial Tropicals live fish catalogue.
