Description

Super Red Bushynose - 1-2" Unsexed. Remarks : Super red bushynose are orange-red in color making them really stand out against green plants. They were line-bred from a calico strain of bushynose, and they may show some light mottling as they age - a sign of their ancestry. Bushynose, or bristlenose plecos, belong to the genus Ancistrus but their exact species is unknown. The common bushynose plecos you see available today are likely line-bred from A. cirrhosus , but there is a chance hybridization with other Ancistrus species occurred at some point. Their common name is derived from the long and elaborate tentacles that develop on the faces of males. The bigger the "beard" as some call it, the more dominant the male. Females will occasionally develop bristles as well along the edges of their face making it difficult to diffe. Source: Imperial Tropicals live fish catalogue.
