They are often confused with King Tiger plecos, but the one latter tends to have more of a white body with black markings, whilst the Bel Monte has a golden body colour. The aquarium should be furnished with a soft substrate, such as sand and smooth rocks with bog wood and caves for the pleco to take refuge in. If more than one pleco of this species are to be kept together, please make sure that adequate space is available to everyone and that there are more caves than there are.
