It is an excellent addition to temperate communities and great for aquariums with fast flow. The Aquarium Notropsis lutipinnis need a reasonable sized aquarium for a small shoal to really be able to exhibit their natural active behaviour. Though this species is really not particularly fussy about anything, it is recommended that the flow is relatively strong and highly oxygenated with areas of calm water movement for resting. A planted aquarium would be ideal, with sandy substrate. Lower temperatures are required for these fish. Behaviour Notropsis lutipinnis is an active, shoaling species that should be kept in grou.
