They're best kept in groups of 6 or more individuals, preferably with a mix of males and females. The aquarium should be at least 4ft long and planted around the back and sides, witch an open swimming area in the centre. Similarly to most rainbowfish, the juveniles look quite drab and are often overlooked in shops. But once the fish settle in a planted aquarium, they will soon begin to colour up with females turning more bronze and males turning a solid bright red colour. Despite being quite a large fish, red rainbows don't attack other fish and can be kept with a variety of other peaceful tropic. Source: Shirley Aquatics Tropical Livestock.
